Description
Rotala ramosior ‘Florida’ is a bold and distinctive freshwater stem plant known for its broad leaves and intense red to deep pink coloration under optimal conditions. Compared to finer-leaved Rotala species, this variety offers a stronger, more dramatic presence, making it an excellent contrast plant in planted aquariums.
This plant thrives under moderate to high lighting, where its colors become richer and more vibrant. While it can grow without COâ‚‚ injection, COâ‚‚ supplementation and regular fertilization are highly recommended to maintain compact growth, healthy stems, and strong coloration. Adequate iron and micronutrients further enhance its red tones.
Rotala ramosior ‘Florida’ grows upright with sturdy stems and is best suited for midground to background placement, depending on aquarium size. Regular trimming encourages bushier growth and prevents legginess, allowing aquascapers to shape it into dense groups or accent sections. Stable water parameters and good flow are important to prevent lower leaf loss.
Commonly used in Dutch-style and high-contrast nature aquascapes, this plant pairs beautifully with fine-leaved green plants and lighter foreground carpets. Considered a moderate-difficulty plant, Rotala ramosior ‘Florida’ rewards proper care with bold color, structure, and strong visual impact.
