Description
Cryptocoryne walkeri is a hardy and attractive freshwater aquarium plant known for its compact growth and richly textured leaves. This species produces narrow to moderately broad leaves that range in color from bright green to olive or bronze tones, often with subtle rippling or veining that adds natural detail to planted aquariums.
Native to Sri Lanka, Cryptocoryne walkeri is well suited to low to moderate lighting and is an excellent choice for low-tech and beginner-friendly aquariums. It does not require COâ‚‚ injection, though a nutrient-rich substrate will support stronger root development and healthier growth. Once established, it is stable and easy to maintain.
Like most Cryptocoryne species, this plant may experience crypt melt when first introduced or when water conditions change. However, with stable parameters and patience, it typically recovers and produces new, healthy leaves. Cryptocoryne walkeri grows in neat rosettes, making it ideal for foreground to midground placement, especially in smaller aquariums.
This adaptable plant works well in tropical community tanks and shrimp aquariums. Its natural appearance makes it a popular choice for nature-style and low-maintenance aquascapes, where it provides long-lasting greenery without frequent trimming.
